Overview
In the Zift123 platform, cookies are used to provide an optimal experience to users on the platform by learning their past behaviors. Zift123 users will be able to engage with cookies and the Cookie Law by setting their tracking options in their Zift123 user accounts.
Cookies help user company websites by tracking where their website visitors are coming from, what language they speak and what sections of the company site they are most interested in. Cookies are small files which are stored on a user's computer. They are designed to hold a modest amount of data specific to a particular client and website, and can be accessed either by the web server or the client computer.
Cookies allow the server to deliver a page tailored to a particular user, or the page itself can contain some script which is aware of the data in the cookie and so is able to carry information from one visit to the website (or related site) to the next. A cookie is effectively a small lookup table containing pairs of (key, data) values

The Cookie Law
In European Union Countries (EU) laws require people to give EU visitors information about cookies used on your site. In many cases, these laws also require website traffic to obtain consent.
The Cookie Law is a piece of privacy legislation that requires websites to get consent from visitors to store or retrieve any information on a computer, smartphone or tablet. It is designed to protect online privacy, by making consumers aware of how information about them is collected and used online, and give them a choice to allow it or not.
Why the Cookie Law
Almost all websites use cookies - little data files - to store information in people’s web browsers. Some websites contain hundreds of them. There are other technologies, like Flash and HTML5 Local Storage that do similar things, and these are also covered by the legislation, but as cookies are the most common technology in use, it has become known as the Cookie Law.
